"Most of them would tell us not to bother, that they were only doing what they were told to do - that they were doing their duty - and that they don't deserve special recognition.
"Well, we think they do.
"Using the smoke from the Eternal Flame located at the Courthouse near the Veterans' Memorial, we transmit the transfers of membership of these veterans from the aforementioned veterans organizations to their final, Everlasting Post.
"In the Everlasting Post, they will be reunited with their buddies and shipmates who went before them.
"They will stand proudly and equally beside other veterans such as General George Washington, Sergeant Alvin York, General Dwight David Eisenhower, General George Patton, 2nd Lieutenant Audie Murphy, and all the fighting men and women who lost their lives in America's wars and those who have lost their lives since.
"In the Everlasting Post they will no longer need their eyeglasses, they will all be slim again, their hair will be thick, their uniforms will fit like a glove and they are all good looking and looking good. They will once again relive those glory days when they were young.
"And we say to them 'Thank you for sacrificing your time and your youth and, in some cases, your life, in the name of democracy and freedom. Enjoy your new Post. Your dues are paid.'"
